Well I'm recently dropped down into a "Large" size and needed some shorts to ride. Fit is awesome, removable liners is a plus and it offers some leg coverage from trail brush and branches. I can't comment about from vents since its cold out still, ok Ca cold but still cold. I've had 2 other pearl izumi shorts that had bigger pockets but had a terrible waist adjustment. These shorts stay fit to my waist. I'd buy my these again. Only real issue is starting from a standing position to get on seat a little bit of sag at crotch get caught on seat. The hook button at waist is perfect. The price was great as PI leans towards the higher end of spectrum for most of their gear. For the premium price, I was hoping for more robust material used for the pants. It is definitely comfortable to wear but I don't think it can take a lot of beatings. The ventilation design for this shorts is second to none.Sizing is along the lines of other Pearl Izumi mtb shorts. Keep in mind that different PI models have different lengths, so look these up prior to purchasing. Also, higher end models have better chamois, these have the nicer ones. Venting works, but probably won't be great when it's 95 with 90% humidity. Go with a model with bigger vents at that point.I love these. I use them as commuter shorts, I carry a replacement pair of chamois that to swap out when they get too sweaty to come home with. Really great. I'm 6'2 and thin. I worried that the legs would be too long, but they are great. Sometimes the back of the short get caught on the water bottle, but that is rare.Like the fit and the style. Loads of pockets. Very handy to go for a ride, stop by a cafe or a store and not feel out of place (like you would in normal bike shorts). When this short arrived the quality was pretty good. The style is nice and comfortable. My husband loves it he uses that weekend for mountain biking. If you are on the cusp go for the larger size. More room to move. These are the best shorts I've worn for all types of mountain biking, from cross-country to enduro (and I've worn a lot of shorts over the years). Get some!
